Two of Meta’s new AI ad tools are fully live now: Customer Lifecycle Strategy, which tells Meta to chase new customers rather than people who already buy from you, and Advantage+ creative video made from your static images. Most of the rest, including the assistant that changes budgets for you, scheduled reports, catalogue product video and checkout inside Meta AI, is still a test, a beta or “coming soon”. One quieter change matters more this week: Meta said it would switch product browsing on in existing ads from 28 October 2026 unless you opted out.

This guide sorts every item Meta announced at Advertising Week New York on 6 October 2026, plus the product browsing change and the Ads MCP server, by what you can use today. Each claim links to the Meta page or report it came from, and Meta’s own performance figures are labelled as Meta’s.

Key takeaways

  • Live for all advertisers: Customer Lifecycle Strategy on Sales campaigns, and Advantage+ creative video from static assets (Meta calls it “generally available”).
  • Rolling out: Ads Creative Studio, with new video editing tools, and creative insights and deeper memory in the Meta AI business assistant.
  • Still testing: agentic actions (create campaigns, change targeting and budgets), scheduled tasks and alerts, brand-guideline import, a one-label customer exclusion, catalogue product video (beta) and checkout in Meta AI.
  • Product browsing: Meta said it would add it to existing ads from 28 October 2026. Check each Sales ad’s destination settings now.
  • Meta claims advertisers who adopt its recommendations see 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion, and product browsing gave 3% more conversions in an August test. Both are Meta’s own figures.

How does Customer Lifecycle Strategy work?

Customer Lifecycle Strategy is a setting on Sales campaigns that tells Meta what the campaign is for. If you mark it as an acquisition campaign, Meta recommends how to exclude people who already buy from you, so you are not paying to reach them again. Meta’s announcement says it is “now available to all advertisers”, and that Meta is also testing a way to exclude an entire group of existing customers with a single Audience Label.

Meta’s help page gives the rules:

  • It works with the Sales objective.
  • It is not available for ads about social issues, elections or politics, or for pharmaceutical campaigns.
  • You can choose to get conversions from all audiences, or to acquire new customers.
  • If you focus on new customers, you can exclude existing customers and also people who have engaged with you, using custom audiences.
  • Meta warns that your cost per acquisition may go up, and suggests judging these campaigns on cost per new customer rather than overall CPA.

How do I set up Customer Lifecycle Strategy?

  1. In Ads Manager, create or open a campaign with the Sales objective.
  2. Go to the ad set and find Customer lifecycle strategy.
  3. Choose Get conversions from all audiences or Acquire new customers.
  4. If you pick new customers, add your existing customer lists (and engaged audiences if you want) as exclusions using custom audiences.
  5. Agree up front how you will judge it. Meta itself says to look at cost per new customer, so compare that number, not blended CPA, with your current campaigns.

The steps above follow Meta’s help page on 31 October 2026. Menu names can differ slightly between accounts. If you are still deciding how much to spend while a new setting learns, our guide to daily Facebook ad budgets is a good starting point.

What changed in Meta’s AI creative tools?

Meta announced three creative updates, and they are at different stages.

Advantage+ creative video from static images (live)

“In Advantage+ creative, advertisers and agencies can now generate video from existing static assets, a feature that is now generally available,” Meta said in its announcement, as quoted by Marketing Dive. Meta also says more than 60% of time spent on Facebook and Instagram is spent watching video, which is why it is pushing static-to-video tools.

Ads Creative Studio (rolling out)

Ads Creative Studio, which Meta introduced this summer, shows which creatives perform and why. Meta says it is “beginning to roll out to more advertisers”. It can now generate new video concepts and variations that you edit by changing the hook, audio, clip length, text overlays, captions or end scene. Meta quotes Whitney Mortimer of the agency Tinuiti in support of the tool.

Video from your product catalogue (beta)

Turning catalogue product images into videos at scale is a beta for eligible advertisers, through Advantage+ creative video generation and the product video creator in Commerce Manager. Meta also says smart product recommendations will scale “this fall”.

What can Meta’s business AI assistant do now?

The Meta AI business assistant sits inside Ads Manager. Meta says it now brings Ads Creative Studio’s creative insights into the chat, and has deeper memory: “This includes the context of what you tried last quarter, your seasonality, and the goals you’ve described” (Meta).

What it cannot do yet is act on its own. Meta says agentic actions are “beginning to test”, and that “soon” you will be able to ask it to plan and create a campaign, generate images and copy, update targeting or change a budget. Meta says these actions come with previews, approvals and controls. Scheduled tasks, such as recurring performance reports and alerts, and importing your strategy, brand voice and brand guidelines, are also in testing.

Meta adds one performance claim: advertisers who adopt its recommendations see “5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion”. That is Meta’s own figure, and the announcement does not explain how it was measured. Use it as a reason to test, not a forecast.

What is the Meta Ads MCP server and is it safe to connect?

The Ads MCP server lets AI tools you already use work inside your Meta ad account. Meta’s help page lists the server address as https://mcp.facebook.com/ads and names ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and Perplexity as supported. It says the connector can handle reporting, ad creation, custom audiences, catalogues, signal diagnostics, A/B tests and lift studies, and activity logs. Meta’s developer documentation, last updated 14 July 2026, groups the tools into seven categories.

The safety controls are the part to read before you connect anything:

  • “All ads are paused by default until you set them live,” according to Meta’s help page.
  • In Business Suite, under Settings, Integrations, Ads MCP server, you can allow or block specific actions, such as creating campaigns or editing budgets, and block budgets above an amount you set. In Meta’s example, entering USD 1,000 blocks any request to set a budget above USD 1,000.
  • Meta’s announcement says agent-prepared work arrives as a draft in Ads Manager, every action is governed by permissions you set, and publishing needs your explicit approval.

Meta names partners building on the server, including AdManage.ai, Birch, Blip, Databricks, Innovid, Kochava, Perplexity, Reportei, Snowflake and Triple Whale. If you use Claude for this kind of work, our guide on Claude skills for marketing explains how to give it repeatable instructions.

Did Meta turn on product browsing in my ads on 28 October?

It said it would. A notice Meta sent advertisers reads: “Starting October 28, 2026, we’ll add product browsing to your existing ads.” The notice is not on Meta’s public site. The Keyword says its public record is a screenshot a media buyer shared on LinkedIn on 14 October, and PPC Land reported it on 15 October.

Product browsing means that when someone taps your ad, Meta may first show them a page on Facebook or Instagram with product details and personalised suggestions, before they go to your website. Meta’s page on personalised destinations lists it alongside Shops, optimise website destination and browser add-ons, for campaigns with the Sales objective and a website conversion location, and notes that some of these “may be turned on by default”.

Meta’s case rests on one number: businesses saw 3% more conversions on average with product browsing. According to the notice’s footnote, as reported by PPC Land and The Keyword, the test ran from 6 to 21 August 2026 across about 117,700 advertisers in at least three verticals, with more than 99% confidence. PPC Land points out that the notice does not define which conversions were counted. The Keyword also notes that the notice does not say whether ads created after 28 October start with it on.

How do I check or turn off product browsing?

  1. Open a Sales campaign ad in Ads Manager.
  2. Go to the Advantage+ creative settings and the Destination section, then Personalized destinations.
  3. Check whether Product browsing is on. Turn it off if you want every tap to go straight to your site.
  4. Repeat for each ad. The notice says you can change it “anytime”, but it does not say one setting covers a whole account.
  5. When you duplicate ads, check the setting again on the copy.

With Black Friday on 27 November, the safest option for most shops is to run a short test: keep product browsing on in one ad set and off in a matching one, and compare purchases and landing-page sessions. Relevant Audience also covered the change if you want a second summary.

What is coming to checkout and Muse?

Meta is testing purchases that happen inside its own apps. It says it is working with Shopify on a direct checkout in Meta Business Agent on Messenger, and testing checkout in Meta AI “this fall” with Adyen, PayPal, Shopify and Stripe.

Separately, Meta launched Muse for small business on 29 September 2026 in the US and Canada. It connects to tools such as Asana, Box, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Granola, HighLevel, QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Lovable, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe and Zoom, plus your Facebook and Instagram business accounts. Meta says “nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your approval”, and that Muse is free for most uses, with subscriptions for more. Our guide to Meta Muse for digital marketers goes deeper.

Checklist: what should I do this week?

  1. Audit product browsing. Open every live Sales ad and check Personalized destinations. Decide on or off per ad, or run an on/off test.
  2. Turn on Customer Lifecycle Strategy for prospecting. Mark acquisition campaigns, upload your customer list as an exclusion and judge results on cost per new customer.
  3. Check your customer lists are fresh. Exclusions only work if the list is current, so refresh the upload.
  4. Test static-to-video. Pick your three best static ads and let Advantage+ creative make video versions. Run them against your existing video.
  5. Look for Ads Creative Studio. If it has reached your account, use its findings to plan new hooks rather than letting it publish on its own.
  6. Set MCP guardrails before connecting. If you link ChatGPT or Claude, block budget changes or cap them at a maximum amount and keep ads paused until you review them.
  7. Do not plan around test features. Agentic budget changes, scheduled alerts and checkout in Meta AI may not reach your account before Black Friday.
  8. Write down your baseline. Record CPA, cost per new customer and ROAS for the last 30 days so you can judge every change.

Frequently asked questions

What did Meta announce at Advertising Week New York 2026? Meta made Customer Lifecycle Strategy available to all advertisers, made Advantage+ creative video from static images generally available, began rolling Ads Creative Studio out to more advertisers, added memory and creative insights to its business AI assistant, and expanded its Ads MCP server. Agentic actions, scheduled tasks, catalogue product video and AI checkout are still tests or betas.

Is Customer Lifecycle Strategy available to everyone? Meta says Customer Lifecycle Strategy is now available to all advertisers. Its help page says it works on Sales campaigns and is not available for ads about social issues, elections or politics, or for pharmaceutical campaigns.

Did Meta turn on product browsing in my existing ads? Meta told advertisers in a notice that starting 28 October 2026 it would add product browsing to existing ads unless they opted out. You can still turn it off for each ad in the Advantage+ creative and destination settings.

Will product browsing hurt my website conversion tracking? It can change the path. With product browsing, people may see a product page on Facebook or Instagram before they reach your website, so compare conversions and landing-page sessions for ads with it on and off before you decide.

What is the Meta Ads MCP server? It is a connector that lets AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and Perplexity work with your Meta ad account. Meta says ads created this way are paused by default, actions need permission and approval, and you can block actions or block budgets above a set amount.

Is Meta’s AI assistant allowed to change my budgets on its own? Not yet. Meta says agentic actions such as creating campaigns, updating targeting and changing budgets are beginning to test and will come with previews, approvals and controls.

Does Meta’s 5% more conversions claim apply to every advertiser? No. It is Meta’s own figure for advertisers who adopted its recommendations, and Meta did not publish the method in its announcement. Treat it as a claim and test on your own account.
