Description

What is Notra?

Notra is a GEO tool that asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your buyers ask, then shows whether your brand appears, who appears instead and what to write to fix it. GEO means generative engine optimization: getting named in AI answers. Notra is run by Notra, Inc. (see its Terms of Service) and launched on Product Hunt on 27 October 2026, its fourth launch there, where it finished sixth on the daily leaderboard. Dominik Koch describes himself as one of the makers on its Product Hunt page. Everything below is checked against Notra’s own pages on 28 October 2026. We have not used the product.

It started as a tool that turned shipped work into changelogs and launch posts, and that writer still runs inside it (see Notra’s About page). The GEO side is the newer part: on a schedule, Notra sends your buyer questions to each engine you pick, keeps every answer, and records whether you were mentioned, in which position, and which competitors were named instead.

Key Features of Notra

Mention rate and share of voice

Each prompt goes to each model you turn on, with web search where the engine has it. You get who mentioned you, where in the list, and whether that moved since the last scan. Share of voice shows who gets recommended when you don’t, split by prompt, language and engine, and you can add competitors and the misspellings people use for them (see Notra’s features page).

Full answers, with the sources

Every scan keeps the whole answer, so you can open a prompt and read what each engine wrote, where you show up and which pages it pulled. Engines with web search show the searches they made and the pages they cited, and you can ask a follow-up in the thread to see whether a recommendation survives a buyer pushing back.

AI traffic, told apart

Notra also tracks the AI agents that visit your site. It sorts hits into training crawlers, index builders, assistants that read a page to answer someone, and people who clicked through from an AI answer, and it says it does not count a fetch as a citation. Tracking uses a small package (@usenotra/geo) added as middleware in frameworks such as Next.js, Astro and SvelteKit, with no script tag (per Notra’s FAQ).

Content gaps and a writer

Where engines answer without mentioning you, Notra ranks the question by how winnable it looks and can plan a guide, listicle or comparison from your brand identity, sitemap and tracked competitors. You approve the brief and review the draft before anything goes live.

How Notra Works

  • Add prompts: list the buyer questions you want to track, plus the competitors to compare
  • Pick engines and a schedule: each prompt runs once on every model you choose, each scan
  • Read the answers: see mention rate, position, share of voice and the cited pages
  • Close the gaps: turn ranked gaps into briefs and drafts, and add the traffic tracker to see who is reading your site
Notra loop in three steps: ask your buyer questions on each AI engine, measure mentions, position and cited pages, then fix the gaps with ranked content briefs
Notra’s own description, summarised as ask, measure and fix from its homepage and features page. We have not tested it.

Notra defines one AI answer as one prompt asked to one engine in one language on one scan. Its own example: ten prompts across five engines in two languages, scanned every 48 hours, is about 1,500 answers a month (see the Notra FAQ). Notra says it keeps scans to models whose provider offers zero data retention if you turn that option on.

How Much Does Notra Cost?

Notra has a free plan, but it covers AI traffic analytics and agent feedback only. Prompt tracking and the writer come with paid plans, which differ in how many AI answers and traffic events you track a month (see Notra’s pricing page, checked 28 October 2026). Prices below are monthly billing in USD; yearly billing gives two months free.

Plan Price AI answers tracked / month AI traffic events / month Projects
Free $0 Not included 1M n/a
Starter $100/month 2,000 5M 1
Growth $250/month 6,000 15M 3
Scale $550/month 12,000 30M 10
Enterprise Custom Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
Notra paid plans per month: Starter $100 for 2,000 AI answers, Growth $250 for 6,000, Scale $550 for 12,000, Enterprise custom, plus a free traffic-analytics plan
The paid plans side by side, with the free plan for reference. Any per-answer figures are our arithmetic, assuming you use the full allowance.

Paid plans also include monthly allowances of image generations (8, 20 and 45), long-form posts (10, 25 and 50) and references (100, 500 and 1,000, with overage of $0.05, $0.04 and $0.03 each), plus unlimited social posts. Zero data retention costs 20% extra on Starter, Growth and Scale and is included on Enterprise. You can start free and cancel a paid plan at any time.

Who Should Use Notra?

  • Founders and small marketing teams who want to see what ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini say about them, from $100 a month
  • SaaS and agency teams tracking several brands, languages or engines
  • Developer-led companies that want an MCP server, CLI or SDK to pull the data into their own tools
  • Sites that want to know which AI crawlers visit them, which is free up to 1 million events a month

It is less suited to teams that need a long-established vendor with independent reviews, a mature agency reporting suite, or a tool they can try on prompt tracking without paying.

Pros and Cons of Notra

Pros

  • Public, self-serve pricing from $100 a month, with a usage calculator and a free traffic-analytics plan
  • Reads the whole answer, not just a score, and separates a crawler fetch from a real citation
  • Covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity with web search, plus other models you can switch on
  • Published DPA, sub-processor list and a zero data retention option (see its sub-processors page)
  • MCP server, CLI and TypeScript SDK, published under the usenotra GitHub organisation with MIT licences

Cons

  • A very new GEO product: we found no independent editorial reviews, customer case studies or funding announcement, and Product Hunt lists only three user reviews
  • Prompt tracking is paid only, and the answer allowance rises quickly with prompts, engines and scan frequency
  • The homepage dashboards are sample data, so we could not check real-world accuracy
  • We have not tested it ourselves

Notra vs Alternatives

Tool What it does Choose it if
Notra Tracks AI answers and AI crawler traffic, then drafts content for the gaps You want answers, traffic and a writer in one place, with public pricing
Peec AI Shows how ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and Copilot mention your brand against rivals, with cited sources You want a dedicated AI answer tracker (see the Peec AI review)

Opinly SEO automation with site audits and AI content, plus an LLM visibility add-on You want SEO automation first and AI visibility second (see the Opinly review)

Frequently Asked Questions About Notra

What is Notra?
Notra is a GEO tool that asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other AI engines the questions your buyers ask. It shows whether your brand appears, which competitors appear instead, which pages were cited, and drafts content to close the gaps.

How much does Notra cost?
Notra has a free plan for AI traffic analytics and agent feedback, up to 1 million events a month. Paid plans with prompt tracking cost $100 a month on Starter, $250 on Growth and $550 on Scale, with custom Enterprise pricing. Yearly billing gives two months free.

Does Notra have a free plan?
Yes, but it covers AI traffic analytics and agent feedback only, for up to 1 million events a month. Tracking prompts across AI engines needs a paid plan.

Which AI engines does Notra track?
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity with web search, plus Google AI Overview and coding agents, according to Notra. Models from Grok, Moonshot, Z.AI, DeepSeek and Meta run without web search, and you choose which ones to scan.

What counts as an AI answer on Notra?
One prompt asked to one engine in one language on one scan. Notra’s example is ten prompts across five engines in two languages, scanned every 48 hours, which comes to about 1,500 answers a month.

Is Notra open source?
We could not confirm that. Notra’s TypeScript SDK, MCP server and CLI are MIT-licensed on GitHub, but we could not find the main application’s source code, so we do not describe Notra as open source.

Is Notra independently reviewed?
We found no independent editorial reviews or funding announcement. Its Product Hunt launch on 27 October 2026 drew 147 upvotes and 21 comments, and the dashboard figures on its homepage are sample data, so test it on your own prompts.

Final Verdict

Notra looks like a real, transparent and unusually well documented GEO tool, with public prices from $100 a month and a free traffic-analytics plan. It is brand new, so judge it on your own prompts: the dashboard figures on its site are sample data and we found no independent reviews.
