SPOT by ACCESS Newswire review 2026: seven AI checks for press releases, scored 3.8 out of 5 (Digital Marketing Supermarket)

By Saj Ali · Last updated 3 Nov 2026

SPOT is a new set of seven AI checks from ACCESS Newswire that reviews a press release before you submit it, and its headline feature predicts whether AI assistants like ChatGPT will cite the release. It is a sensible idea and it is built into the normal release workflow, but it only works on ACCESS Newswire releases, the add-on prices are not published, and the AI score is a forecast that nobody has tested in public yet. We reviewed it from public pages on 3 November 2026, the day after launch, without using it. Our score is 3.8 out of 5: useful if you already send releases through ACCESS Newswire.

TL;DR: our verdict on SPOT

  • Verdict: 3.8/5, useful if you already send releases through ACCESS Newswire. A smart set of pre-submission checks, held back by unpublished add-on prices, no independent evidence yet and lock-in to one wire service.
  • Price: 3 checks included with every release (from $475). Add-on prices not published. No free trial.
  • Best for: PR and IR teams, especially at US public companies, who already use ACCESS Newswire.
  • Biggest catch: The AI citation score is a forecast. Nobody has shown yet how often it is right.

How we reviewed SPOT

  • We read the launch release, seespotwork.com and its tool pages, and ACCESS Newswire’s pricing and terms pages on 3 November 2026, and took every screenshot ourselves from public pages with a headless browser.
  • We did not sign up, buy anything or use the product, and we did not contact the company.
  • Prices are as shown on the vendor’s own pages on 3 November 2026 and can change.
  • We score five criteria out of 5 and combine them as a weighted average on the DMS 2026 scale, with features and evidence counting most. Nobody paid for this review.

What is SPOT, and who makes it?

SPOT stands for Smart PR Optimized Tools. ACCESS Newswire Inc. announced it on 2 November 2026 from Raleigh, North Carolina (launch release). ACCESS Newswire describes itself as a PR and investor relations company and is listed on NYSE American under the ticker ACCS. Its brands also include Newswire.com and Pressrelease.com.

SPOT has its own site, seespotwork.com, with a page for each tool. It runs in the Optimize step of the ACCESS Newswire app, after you write a release and before you submit it to editorial.

The seven SPOT checks

Three checks are included with every release and four are add-ons.

Check Included or add-on What it does
ACCESS Verified Included Checks the release against ACCESS Newswire content guidelines, prohibited content rules and distribution partner guidelines
Source Verification Included Flags anything that needs third-party permission, such as tickers, public figures and third-party images
Release Timing Advisor Included Suggests the best send time with backups, weighing market hours, holidays, competing news and Reg FD rules
LLM Visibility Score Add-on Predicts how likely ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok are to cite the release, out of 100
Readability Score Add-on Scores the release for novice, intermediate and expert readers, with sentence-level tips
Earnings Audit Add-on (IR) Looks for footing errors, rounding issues and misstatements in earnings numbers
PR Headline Optimizer Add-on Flags length, names, keywords and filler, and suggests stronger headlines
SPOT tools included with every release: ACCESS Verified, Source Verification and Release Timing Advisor

Every report ends in plain-language fixes, and you can edit and rerun “at no new charge”. ACCESS Newswire is clear that its editorial team still reviews every release, and that SPOT “never replaces it”.

The LLM Visibility Score: what it is, and what it is not

This is the part most marketers will care about. The LLM Visibility Score page says it “scans your release before distribution, predicts how likely ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok are to cite it, and tells you what to fix first”. The report has:

  • a score out of 100, built from five areas worth 20 points each: citation likelihood, entity recognition, answer extraction quality, LLM readability and knowledge graph completeness;
  • the points in each area;
  • the top three fixes; and
  • an outlook for each of the five AI platforms.

ACCESS Newswire’s sample report scores 72 out of 100, with the top fix “answer ‘what was announced’ in one sentence in paragraph 1”. That is sound advice for any release, and it matches what we recommend in our GEO guide. But it is a sample, not a result.

The important word is “predicts”. Nothing we found shows how often a high score leads to real citations. The SPOT page itself says other tools “track AI mentions after the fact” while this is “a prediction for one release”. So treat the score as a checklist, not a promise.

How much does SPOT cost?

You cannot buy SPOT on its own. Three checks come with every ACCESS Newswire release, and the four add-ons are switched on in the Optimize step. ACCESS Newswire publishes its release and subscription prices, but we could not find a price for any add-on on the launch release, the SPOT site or the pricing pages. Prices below are in US dollars, from ACCESS Newswire’s press release pricing and PR subscription pricing on 3 November 2026.

Option Price (US dollars) What SPOT you get
Single release: Budget $475 3 included checks; add-ons extra
Single release: State $599 3 included checks; add-ons extra
Single release: National (most popular) $865 3 included checks; add-ons extra
Single release: US Premium $1,205 3 included checks; add-ons extra
PR subscription: Budget / National / Premium $920 / $1,150 / $1,525 a month 1 release a month each; 3 a month with Plus (+$380 / +$600 / +$525)
Add-ons: LLM Visibility Score, Readability Score, Earnings Audit, PR Headline Optimizer Not published Switched on in the Optimize step
ACCESS Newswire press release pricing: Budget $475, National $865, US Premium $1,205
ACCESS Newswire’s single-release prices on 3 November 2026. SPOT runs inside every release.

Packs of 3 releases save 5% and packs of 5 save 10%. Single releases must be used within 60 days of purchase and packs within 12 months. Subscriptions billed quarterly save 10% and billed annually save 20%; for example, Budget drops from $920 to $736 a month on annual billing. The launch release also says a new “lower-tier subscription with outcome-based pricing” is planned for November, with details “at a later date”.

Terms, refunds and risks

  • US law. ACCESS Newswire’s terms of service are governed by North Carolina law, with disputes in North Carolina courts.
  • Refunds. The terms say you get no refund if a release is refused for breaking the content guidelines, and ACCESS “shall not be required to refund any fees for completed Services”. Subscription customers can end the agreement on 60 days’ written notice but stay liable for the current term.
  • Lock-in. SPOT only works inside ACCESS Newswire, so it does not help with releases sent through other wires.
  • US focus. Prices are in US dollars, the state distribution option covers US states, and features such as Reg FD timing and ticker checks are aimed at US public companies.

What we could not verify

  • How accurate the LLM Visibility Score is against real AI citations.
  • What the four add-ons cost.
  • What the planned outcome-based subscription will include or cost.
  • Any independent user reviews. SPOT launched the day before we checked, and we found no Trustpilot page for accessnewswire.com.

Who should use SPOT, and who should not

  • Use it if you already send releases through ACCESS Newswire. The three included checks cost nothing extra.
  • Use it if you are a US public company that needs Reg FD-aware timing, ticker checks and earnings audits.
  • Try the LLM Visibility Score if AI citations matter to you, but keep your own record of what actually gets cited.
  • Skip it if you use another wire service, send few releases, or want to track AI visibility over time. A tracker such as Peec AI (see our Peec AI review) does that job.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Checks run before you submit, while the release can still change
  • Three useful checks included with every release
  • Clear, specific fixes and free reruns
  • Built for both PR and investor relations
  • Release and subscription prices are published

Cons

  • Only available inside ACCESS Newswire
  • Add-on prices not published
  • The AI citation score is a forecast, with no public accuracy data yet
  • No free trial and limited refunds
  • US dollars and a US focus

SPOT alternatives

There is no direct like-for-like tool: SPOT is tied to one wire. If you want to check AI visibility after publishing, compare the trackers in our guide to the best AI visibility optimisation tools or read about AI visibility tracking tools. If you want media coverage rather than a wire release, see Press Farm. If you want thought leadership content and press release distribution in one platform, read our Pressmaster review. How we scored SPOT

Every DMS review uses the same five criteria, each marked out of 5, and the overall score is a weighted average on the DMS 2026 scale, with features and evidence counting most. This is a desk review: we scored what the vendor publishes, not a paid hands-on test.

Criterion Score Why
Features and depth 3.5/5 Seven checks in one step: guidelines, permissions, send timing, an LLM citation forecast out of 100, readability, earnings figures and headlines, with plain-language fixes and free reruns. It only works on releases sent through ACCESS Newswire
Pricing transparency and value 2.5/5 Release and subscription prices are published ($475 to $1,205 a release; $920 to $1,525 a month), and three checks are included. But the four add-on prices are not shown anywhere we could find
Evidence and credibility 3.5/5 Launched on 2 November 2026 by a NYSE American-listed company with a detailed launch release and tool pages. There are no user reviews yet, and the citation score is a new forecast with no public accuracy data yet
Risk and compliance 3/5 Editorial still reviews every release. But US terms apply (North Carolina law), fees for completed services are not refunded, and a release refused under the content guidelines gets no refund
Ease of getting started 4/5 Runs inside the normal release workflow, in the Optimize step, with fixes in plain language and reruns at no new charge
Overall 3.8/5 Useful if you already send releases through ACCESS Newswire

Our verdict on SPOT

SPOT puts sensible checks in the right place: after you write a release and before it goes out. The three included checks are a free bonus for ACCESS Newswire customers, and the LLM Visibility Score gives PR teams a concrete checklist for writing releases that AI assistants can quote. It loses marks because it only works inside one wire, the add-on prices are not published, and the citation score is a forecast that has not yet been tested in public. We score it 3.8 out of 5: useful if you already send releases through ACCESS Newswire. See the SPOT listing for a quick summary, or browse more AI tools.
