Hera review 2026: an AI canvas for ads and launch videos. Free plan, Pro $40 a month, fees non-refundable, scored 4.2 out of 5 (Digital Marketing Supermarket)

By Saj Ali · Last updated 3 Nov 2026

Hera is an AI creative canvas that puts image generation, design and animation on one board, lets you run several AI agents at once and gives you every result as editable layers. It is a good fit for lean teams making ads, launch videos and social posts every week. Prices are shown in the app, fees are non-refundable per Hera’s terms, and the canvas is a new first version that Hera is still building on. We reviewed it from Hera’s public pages and its Product Hunt launch on 3 November 2026, without signing up. Our score is 4.2 out of 5.

TL;DR: our verdict on Hera

  • Verdict: 4.2/5. A strong answer to the “one small change breaks the whole design” problem with AI image tools. Check plan limits in the app before paying.
  • Price: free plan; prices are shown in the app, and Pro is $40 a month on the Creator Program page.
  • Trial: no time-limited trial; the free plan is the way to test it.
  • Best for: founders, performance marketers and small agencies who need many on-brand ad variants and simple motion versions.
  • Before you buy: compare plan limits in the app; fees are non-refundable per Hera’s terms.

What Hera is

Hera describes itself as “the AI-native creative canvas”: you “generate images, design, and animate on one canvas”, “direct multiple AI agents at the same time” and “stay in control with editable layers”. It is made by Hera Video, Inc., is backed by Y Combinator, and first launched in 2025 as an AI motion graphics tool. The canvas is its third Product Hunt launch.

Hera’s homepage, 3 Nov 2026.

Hera started out as an AI motion designer for animated text, charts, maps, explainers and launch videos, and that part still exists. The new canvas adds image generation and graphic design, so you can make a static ad and then animate it on the same board. That puts it between image tools such as Krea and ad tools such as Creatify and Arcads.

On Product Hunt, co-founder Peter Tribelhorn explained why they built it: most people still use AI design models in a chat, get one result at a time, and “every small change means the AI makes the whole thing again”, so they end up finishing in Figma or After Effects.

How it works, step by step

Hera’s own DTC ads page walks through a real board for a drink brand called Daily. These are Hera’s examples, not our tests:

  • 1. Set up your brand once. Paste your website and Hera builds a brand kit with your logo, colours, fonts and product photos.
  • 2. Make many ads at once. Each prompt gives six drafts, and you can type the next prompt without waiting. For Daily, ten prompts gave 60 drafts and Hera kept the best 22.
  • 3. Explore angles. Ask for a different style (Hera made 13 UGC-style phone photos) or drop in any ad you like as a reference.
  • 4. Fix what is off. Tell the agent what to change, or turn the ad into a design where every element sits on its own layer.
  • 5. Get every format. Ask for 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16 for Meta, and type “Animate this ad” to make a motion version.

Refunds and terms

Hera’s terms were last updated on 14 May 2026. They say plans are billed on a recurring basis, you can cancel at any time but get no refund for a part of a billing period, and “except where required by applicable law, all fees paid to Hera are non-refundable”. If you cancel, your credits stay until the end of the billing period; if Hera ends your account for a breach, your credits are lost.

Hera’s terms, section 6 (updated 14 May 2026).

Two other points: you keep ownership of what you make, and Hera’s Learn More page says exports come with full commercial rights. You must be at least 13 to use Hera.

Privacy, security and UK GDPR

Hera’s terms and security page both say your uploads and content are not used to train AI models unless you give explicit consent. Its security page is clear: SOC 2 readiness is “in progress”, and if your checklist asks whether Hera is SOC 2 certified, “the accurate answer is no”. Enterprise customers can ask for data processing terms. Hera also has an Impressum page and lists subprocessors on request rather than publicly.

For UK teams: if you upload customer data or people’s photos, ask Hera for its data processing terms first and check where data is stored and how transfers are handled. For most ad work with your own brand assets this is a small issue.

Product Hunt launch and reviews

The canvas launched on Product Hunt this week. On 3 November its product page showed #5 Day Rank, 4.5/5 from 11 reviews and 2.1K followers. Hera’s earlier “Hera Launch” was Product Hunt’s #1 Product of the Day on 30 April 2026.

Product Hunt’s summary of reviews says users praise speed from prompt to export, brand consistency, templates and quick support. The caveats are control and accuracy: people want finer adjustments, external asset uploads, clearer onboarding and more reliable output, including one complaint about an incorrect chart.

Pros and cons

Pros Cons
Images, design and motion on one board Plan prices shown in the app
Editable layers fix the “change one thing, lose everything” problem Fees non-refundable under its terms
Several agents at once for fast ad variants Manual animation control still being built
Brand kit from your website Not SOC 2 certified yet
Free plan, commercial rights, no training on your uploads USD pricing only
API and MCP server Subprocessors listed on request, not publicly

Who should use it

  • Yes: DTC brands, SaaS founders and small agencies who test lots of paid social creative and want simple motion versions without a motion designer.
  • Maybe: agencies with many clients (Hera suggests one board per client) once they have checked plan limits.
  • No: teams who need frame-by-frame animation control, cinematic text-to-video, or a SOC 2 report today.

How we reviewed Hera (methodology)

We read Hera’s homepage, use-case, AI Motion Designer, Product Launch, API, Creator Program, terms, security and trust pages, its llms.txt and API docs index, and its Product Hunt page, on 3 November 2026. Screenshots were taken from public pages in a headless browser. We did not sign up, pay or test outputs, and we did not contact Hera. Every number comes from a source listed in our notes. Every DMS review uses the same five criteria (features, pricing, evidence, risk and ease), each marked out of 5, and the overall score is a weighted average on the DMS 2026 scale, with features and evidence counting most.
