Krea review 2026: one studio, 50+ AI models, with Krea 3 and Ad Studio, from $9 a month (Digital Marketing Supermarket)

Krea is a real, fast-moving AI creative suite that puts its own Krea 3 model, 50+ outside models, an agent and now an Ad Studio for static ads in one browser workspace, but you pay in compute units that are hard to budget, and its content terms are broad. We reviewed it from Krea’s public pages, its changelog and user posts on 30 October 2026, the day after Ad Studio launched. We have not tested it hands-on. Our score is 3.7 out of 5: worth a careful trial.

TL;DR: our verdict on Krea

  • Verdict: 3.7/5, worth a careful trial. One of the broadest AI creative suites, with a fast in-house model and a promising Ad Studio, held back by unpredictable unit costs and broad content terms.
  • Price: Free (100 units a day). Basic $9, Pro $35, Max from $105 and Business from $200 a month, cheaper yearly.
  • Best for: Creative teams and online shops that use many image and video models and want static ads on brand.
  • Biggest catch: You pay in compute units, and Krea does not publish what an Ad Studio ad costs.

Is Krea legit? What we checked

Yes. Krea publishes its prices, a full set of docs, a detailed changelog with entries most days, and an Enterprise page that says it is SOC 2 compliant, with the report available under NDA. Its own model, Krea 3, is also sold through outside platforms such as fal, Replicate and OpenRouter.

Some numbers do not line up. The Krea 3 launch post mentions “30 million users”, while the pricing page says “Trusted by 40M+ creators”. The Enterprise page dates Krea 3 to 12 October 2026; the launch post is dated 15 October. And the “What is Krea” page in the docs still calls an older model the flagship. None of this is serious, but it is why we treat Krea’s own figures as claims.

What Krea and Ad Studio do

Krea is a browser app for making and editing visuals. From one sidebar you can:

  • generate and edit images with Krea 3, Nano Banana, GPT image models and others;
  • make videos with Seedance, Kling, Veo 3.1 and other models (paid plans);
  • upscale images up to 22K, train LoRA models on your own images and build repeatable workflows in Krea Nodes;
  • sketch on a real-time canvas that renders as you draw;
  • ask Krea Agent to plan and run a whole job, on any plan since 10 September 2026.

Ad Studio, launched on 29 October 2026, is the first “Krea 3 Expert”, a version of Krea 3 tuned for one job. According to Krea’s launch blog, you paste your website and it builds a brand kit: logo, colours, fonts, description, tone of voice, audience, selling points and products with photos and prices. It reads Shopify catalogues, and a kit holds up to 20 products. You pick placements (4:5 and 1:1 feed, 9:16 Stories and Reels, 16:9 landscape) and up to 12 ads per batch, each featuring one product. You can let Krea choose a creative direction or ask for a product spotlight, the product in the real world, an editorial look, or an ad that explains why the product works. You change ads by asking Krea Agent, preview them in Facebook, Instagram and Reels mockups, and download a ZIP. It also runs inside Claude through Krea’s MCP server.

Krea timed one run on a real store: the brand kit took 49 seconds, six Story ads took 2 minutes 28 seconds, and the first download came about five minutes after pasting the URL. Those are Krea’s own timings.

How much does Krea cost?

Krea’s pricing page on 30 October 2026 lists these plans, in US dollars per month:

Plan Monthly Yearly Compute units What it adds
Free $0 $0 100 a day Krea 3, Krea Agent, real-time models; no commercial licence
Basic $9 $5 on the card, $5.25 in the table 5,000 a month All image models, selected video models, commercial licence, Ad Studio
Pro $35 $21 20,000 a month All video models, App Builder, early access
Max From $105 From $63 40,000 to 100,000 a month Unlimited relaxed generations, Krea 3 Ultra, LoRA training on up to 2,000 images
Business From $200 From $160 20,000 to 1.5 million a month Up to 50 members, no-training terms, SAML SSO, rollover
Enterprise Custom Custom Custom Custom packages, SLA support
Krea pricing page on monthly billing: Free US$0, Basic US$9, Pro US$35 most popular, Max US$105 with unit estimates for Nano Banana 2 and Seedance videos
Krea’s pricing page with monthly billing selected, 30 October 2026 (krea.ai/pricing).

Three things to know. First, units on Basic, Pro and Max do not roll over; Business and Enterprise units do (compute units guide). Second, the yearly toggle says “40% off”, but Business works out at 20% off, and the Basic yearly price differs between the plan card and the comparison table. Third, the per-plan “videos” estimates depend on settings. A Pro user on r/krea said in September that a single Seedance 2.5 generation used “roughly 3,000 credits”, against the 109 videos Krea advertised at the time. Today the Pro card says about 65. Check the unit estimate in the app before long or high-resolution renders.

Platform rules and limits to know

  • Ad Studio is paid. The blog says it is “on every paid plan, from Basic up”, and “Ads use your compute units”. The launch post on X said “try it now for free”. The free part is brand research and product import.
  • Static ads only. Ad Studio makes images, not video ads, and puts one product in each ad.
  • Your uploads. Krea’s Terms, last updated on 20 May 2024, grant Krea a “worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable and transferable license” to your User Submissions, including for promoting its service and “after your termination of your account”. Without private mode, some submissions “may be viewable by other users”. Business adds terms with no-training clauses.
  • Refunds and disputes. Plans renew automatically, there is no prorated refund for the current period, and disputes go to binding individual arbitration with a class action waiver.
  • Brand claims. Ads use the claims in your brand kit, so check prices, offers and product claims in the kit before you generate, and follow Meta’s advertising rules when you publish.

Claims and numbers: what we could check

Claim Source What we found
Krea 3 edits “in under 8 seconds” at native 2K, at $0.06 per image Krea 3 launch post Krea’s own tests, run from 24 September to 1 October 2026. The $0.06 is the API price, not the app plan cost.
“30 million users” vs “Trusted by 40M+ creators” Krea 3 post vs pricing page The two pages give different totals. We rely on neither.
“50+ AI models” and SOC 2 compliance Enterprise page Stated by Krea. The SOC 2 report is available under NDA.
Ad Studio: brand kit in 49 seconds, first ads in about five minutes Ad Studio blog Krea’s own timing of one run. Not independently tested.
“Reduced our production time by up to 70%” Enterprise page testimonial (Superside) A customer quote on Krea’s site.

What we could not verify

  • How many compute units one Ad Studio ad costs.
  • How well Ad Studio keeps product details, labels and text accurate across a full batch.
  • Krea’s user totals and speed comparisons, which come only from Krea.
  • Whether support response times have improved since the complaints below.

What users are saying about Krea

We searched X, Reddit and LinkedIn on 30 October 2026. Ad Studio is a day old. Most posts about it came from AI-tools accounts within hours of launch, many following the same script, comparing generic AI ads with “real” brand ads and saying the “first few are free”. We could not tell which were sponsored, so we quote none of them. We also left out automated replies, Krea staff and contractors, and resellers. Here is what remains, in people’s own words.

Praise

  • One designer wrote on X about Krea 3: “Edits aside, the image gen is impressive. Coherence of better than gpt 2.5, with midjourney colors/lighting.”
  • A creator who had early access posted: “krea 3 just dropped and it is the best all-around image model on the market today.”
  • A regular user said: “Krea AI is mostly my go to. It allows you to choose your AI engine from decent to cutting edge.” The same post adds: “the better the render, the more credits it will burn!!”
  • Maria Fernanda G., testing the Free plan on LinkedIn: “The Realtime Canvas is Krea’s standout feature: you sketch on one side and the AI renders in real-time as you draw.”

Complaints, questions and doubts

  • 3D artist Travis Davids, who works with several rival AI tools, wrote: “Krea 2 is better than Krea 3, I’m not a fan of Krea 3’s pure image generation capabilities at all, feels like a downgrade, Krea 3 is much better at doing edits to images.”
  • Maria Fernanda G. concluded: “Krea is better for fast image iteration and design exploration. Higgsfield is better for actual video production.”
  • On r/generativeAI, u/rd180x wrote: “krea is massively overpriced compared to seedance and minimax official subscriptions”.
  • On r/krea, u/radient reported that an “Unlimited” Seedance promo charged credits and got “No response from support by email or on discord”. A later update says “They were able to get it sorted out”, though the credits already spent were not returned.
  • Replying to the Ad Studio launch, one user wrote “It’s not free!”, another said “It doesn’t support video ads, sad :(“, and a third asked “what’s the cost behind the 25 ads seeing in the video?”
  • A creative consultant asked whether Ad Studio can “lock the product and change just one thing, like the headline or the background, without regenerating the whole set?” Krea’s blog says the Agent can change a headline or background, but we have not tested how well it holds the rest.

Who should use Krea (and who should not)

Consider it if you use several image and video models each month, want them under one bill, or need a steady flow of static ads that match your brand. Skip it if you mostly make long or high-resolution video on a tight budget, need video or UGC-style ads, or cannot accept a broad licence over what you upload.

Pros and cons of Krea

Pros

  • Its own fast Krea 3 model plus 50+ outside models in one workspace.
  • Ad Studio turns a URL into an editable brand kit and on-brand static ads in minutes.
  • A real Free plan, public paid prices and a commercial licence from $9 a month.
  • API, MCP, plugins and a changelog that shows steady updates.

Cons

  • Compute units make costs hard to predict, especially for video and for Ad Studio.
  • Units on individual plans expire each month, and refunds are not prorated.
  • Broad, perpetual licence to your uploads in Terms dated 2024.
  • Reddit users report slow support on billing and promo problems.

How to run a fair trial

  1. Start on the Free plan and note what 100 units a day buys with the models you would really use.
  2. For Ad Studio, take Basic for one month, paste your site, and fix every colour, claim and price in the brand kit.
  3. Generate one small batch first and record the units it used before you make 12.
  4. Check each ad’s product, label and text against the real product before it runs.
  5. Test a few winners against your current ads on Meta, then decide whether a bigger plan pays for itself.

How we scored Krea

Every DMS review uses the same five criteria, each marked out of 5, and the overall score is the average. This is a desk review: we scored what Krea publishes and what independent sources confirm, not a paid hands-on test.

Criterion Score Why
Features and depth 4.5/5 Its own Krea 3 model plus 50+ image, video, 3D and upscaling models, Krea Agent, Nodes, LoRA training, an API, MCP and now Ad Studio; Ad Studio is static only
Pricing transparency and value 3/5 Public plans from $9 a month and a real Free plan, but costs are in compute units, Ad Studio’s cost per ad is unpublished, individual-plan units expire monthly, and a Pro user found a video estimate far off real usage
Evidence and credibility 4/5 A detailed changelog, docs, SOC 2 for Enterprise and named customers, but speed and price comparisons are Krea’s own, and its user count differs between pages (30 million vs 40M+)
Risk and compliance 3/5 Terms dated May 2024 give Krea a perpetual, sublicensable licence to your uploads; no prorated refunds; no-training terms only on Business; Reddit reports of slow billing support
Ease of getting started 4/5 No-card Free plan, a clean interface and Ad Studio that starts from a URL, but plan limits and unit costs take time to learn
Overall 3.7/5 Worth a careful trial

Our verdict on Krea

Krea gives you more models and tools in one place than almost anyone, its own Krea 3 is fast and good at editing, and Ad Studio is a sensible step for brands that need lots of static ads. It falls short of our “Recommended” mark because costs are paid in units that are hard to predict, Ad Studio’s price per ad is unpublished, and the content terms are broad. We score it 3.7 out of 5: worth a careful trial. Start free, measure what you use, then pay for the smallest plan that covers it. FAQs

Is Krea legit? Yes. Krea is an established AI creative platform with public pricing, documentation, a weekly changelog and SOC 2 compliance for Enterprise. Its speed and price comparisons are its own, and we have not tested it hands-on.

Is Krea worth paying for? It can be if you use many models. One subscription covers Krea 3, image models, video models, upscaling and training. Start on the Free plan and move to the smallest paid plan that covers your real use, because units on Basic, Pro and Max expire each month.

How many images or videos do you get on Krea Pro? Krea’s pricing page estimates 450 Nano Banana 2 images or about 65 Seedance 2.5 videos from Pro’s 20,000 monthly units. Real numbers depend on settings: one Pro user on Reddit reported that a single Seedance 2.5 generation used roughly 3,000 units.

Is Krea Ad Studio worth it for ecommerce brands? It is worth a test if you need many static ads for Meta placements. It builds a brand kit from your site, reads Shopify catalogues and makes up to 12 ads a batch. It needs a paid plan, it does not make video ads, and the cost per ad is not published.

Who owns what I upload to Krea? You keep ownership, but Krea’s Terms, last updated in May 2024, give Krea a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to your submissions, including for promoting its service. Business plans add terms with no-training clauses.

Can I get a refund from Krea? Usually not. Krea’s Terms say subscriptions renew automatically, that cancelling stops the next renewal, and that you are not eligible for a prorated refund of the current period.

What are the best Krea alternatives? Higgsfield AI for video-first work, Creatify and Arcads for UGC-style video ads, Cuttable and PlayAd for ads made and run on Meta for you, and AdCreative.ai for static ad creatives.
