TopMessage Review 2026: TopAgent, Pricing and What We Could Verify

TopMessage review 2026: SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, inbox and API with an AI agent that drafts sends you approve (Digital Marketing Supermarket)

TopMessage is a real, useful SMS and WhatsApp platform with a free plan, and its AI agent, TopAgent, waits for your approval before anything goes out. But the price you see depends on your country, purchases are non-refundable and independent evidence is thin. We reviewed it from public pages on 30 October 2026, without using it. TopAgent launched on Product Hunt on 29 October 2026 for B2B event invitations and finished seventh that day (see the daily leaderboard). Our verdict: 3.3 out of 5, a careful trial on the free plan rather than a recommendation.

For the quick facts, see the TopMessage listing. If you are comparing channels, start with our guides to WhatsApp marketing tools and marketing automation tools.

TL;DR: our verdict on TopMessage

  • Verdict: 3.3/5, worth a careful trial. A capable SMS and WhatsApp tool for small teams, held back by thin evidence and strict purchase terms
  • Best for: Appointment businesses, small e-commerce teams and event organisers sending to opted-in contacts
  • Price: Free Starter plan with 20 messages; Pro from $16 a month billed quarterly for US visitors; messages extra
  • What stands out: Campaigns, inbox, automation and APIs in one place, and an AI agent that asks for approval before sending
  • Biggest caveat: Non-refundable purchases, anonymous case studies and two conflicting descriptions of what TopAgent does on its own

Is TopMessage legit? What we checked

A Product Hunt launch is not proof of a product, so we checked the company first. All of this is from public pages on 30 October 2026.

  • Company: TopX CJSC, registered in Armenia, operates the service, according to its Terms and Conditions. The Terms set Armenian law and courts for disputes.
  • Product: The site is live, with public pricing, product, API and legal pages. TopMessage introduced TopAgent in a LinkedIn post in October 2025; the Product Hunt launch on 29 October 2026 was its event use case.
  • People: On Product Hunt, founder Sipan Babertsyan answered questions publicly and wrote in his launch comment that he spent four years at Twilio. That is his own account, which we have not checked.
  • Legal pages: Both the Terms and the privacy policy were last updated on 10 April 2024, which predates TopAgent.
  • Independent reviews: SourceForge lists 4.2 out of 5 from 5 user reviews. We found no Trustpilot reviews, and the Product Hunt page shows “No reviews yet”.

What TopMessage does

Campaigns, reminders and passcodes

TopMessage sends SMS and WhatsApp campaigns to segments of your contacts, now or on a schedule, from a branded sender. It handles recurring messages, drip sequences and event- or date-based triggers (see Automated Messaging), and its Verify API sends one-time passcodes for sign-ups. Links are shortened and tracked, so you can see clicks per campaign.

One inbox for replies

SMS and WhatsApp replies arrive in a shared inbox with search, filters, saved replies and AI-suggested responses (see Messaging Inbox). The Multichannel plan adds a textable number per channel.

TopAgent, the AI agent

You brief TopAgent in plain language. It picks contacts, writes a message for each audience, builds the campaign and comes back with results and suggested follow-ups. On the homepage FAQ, TopMessage says TopAgent “never chats with customers on its own, and nothing is sent until you approve it”, and that every action it takes is logged.

How much does TopMessage cost?

There are four plans (from TopMessage’s pricing page, checked 30 October 2026). The page changes currency and price by visitor country, with no country selector. These are the prices shown to US visitors on quarterly billing, excluding VAT.

Plan Price (US visitors) Billed Key limits
Starter $0 Free forever 20 free SMS and WhatsApp messages, 5 senders, 1 number, 1 WhatsApp sender
Pro $16 a month $48 a quarter 10 senders, 1 number, unlimited incoming messages
Multichannel $30 a month $90 a quarter 15 senders, 1 number, 1 WhatsApp sender
Custom Quote By agreement Up to 20 senders, numbers and WhatsApp senders

The plan is only part of the cost. You also top up a balance and pay for each message by channel and destination country. From the UK, the page showed Pro at £22 a month on quarterly billing (£66 a quarter) or £24 billed monthly, Multichannel at £50 a month on quarterly billing, and SMS from £0.028. The Terms add three things to know before you buy: a 14-day free trial for new users, automatic renewal, and “All purchases are non-refundable”. Credits expire 12 months after purchase, which sits oddly with the marketing page’s mention of “non-expiring credits”.

TopMessage’s agentic AI page says “TopAgent is fully free” and will not cost extra in future. That covers the agent, not the messages it sends.

Platform rules and limits to know

TopMessage sends through the official channels, but the rules for each channel still apply to you as the sender.

  • WhatsApp: WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Policy says you may only message people who have given you their number and opted in, and you must start conversations with an approved message template. Outside the 24-hour window after a customer writes, only templates are allowed. One SourceForge reviewer waited over a week for a WhatsApp sender because a Meta-verified page was needed.
  • SMS in the UK: marketing texts need consent and an easy opt-out under PECR (see the ICO’s guidance). TopMessage has opt-out management built in, but consent is your job.
  • SMS in the US: business texting from ordinary numbers needs A2P 10DLC registration through The Campaign Registry. TopMessage’s pages do not explain how it handles this, so ask before sending to US numbers.
  • The AI agent: keep TopAgent on approval and review every draft. You are responsible for what goes out under your sender name.

Claims and numbers: what we could check

Claim Where What we found
A beauty salon cut no-shows by 30% with SMS reminders Homepage success stories On the page, with “6 h saved every week”. The client is not named, so it is TopMessage’s own claim
Free Starter plan with 20 messages Pricing page Confirmed: “Free forever”, “20 Free SMS and WhatsApp Messages”
Paid plans from $16 a month Pricing page Confirmed for US visitors on quarterly billing ($48 a quarter). UK visitors see £22 a month
Nothing is sent until you approve it Homepage FAQ Stated clearly in the FAQ. The agentic AI page describes a more autonomous agent (see below)
Works with HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier and Make Homepage Listed on the homepage. Zapier is described as connecting “1,000+ apps” on the homepage and “over 8000 apps” on the Zapier page
#7 on Product Hunt on 29 October 2026 Product Hunt Confirmed on the daily leaderboard

What we could not verify

  • The case studies. The salon (30% fewer no-shows), dental clinic (45% fewer inbound calls), retail (3.4 times return on spend), delivery and fintech results are all anonymous, with no client names or methods.
  • The AI statistics. The agentic AI page shows “90% work automation”, “60% reduction in support costs”, “75% increase in user retention” and “80% boost in productivity”, with no source.
  • How autonomous TopAgent is. The same page calls TopAgent “Autonomous” and “always on”, says it works “with minimal human intervention” and “interacts with customers”, and says it “responds in 100+ languages”. That conflicts with the homepage FAQ. We treat the FAQ, which is newer and more specific, as the current policy, but you should test it.
  • “World’s first agentic AI”. A marketing claim we cannot verify.
  • Delivery rates and support. We did not send messages, so we cannot speak to deliverability, speed or support response times.

What users are saying about TopMessage

We searched X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Product Hunt and review sites on 30 October 2026. There is little independent discussion. We found no relevant posts on X, and LinkedIn mentions come from TopMessage itself or its own network, so we have left them out. Here is what we could open and check, in people’s own words.

Praise

  • Sergey G., a developer, wrote on SourceForge that he “integrated it in 5 minutes” and got “free credits to test the service” (December 2025).
  • Simon G., a marketing manager, said on SourceForge that he “invested just 50 euros in the service and generated 500 euros in sales through WhatsApp campaigns” (September 2025). That is his own figure.
  • Janna R., a Java developer, wrote on SourceForge that the API documentation is “very easy-to-use” and that she was “able to optimize our SMS budget by 30% over the past 4 months” sending one-time passcodes (October 2025).
  • On Product Hunt, one launch-day commenter wrote that “having follow-ups ready for approval makes outreach a lot easier to manage”, and another that being able to “just describe the campaign instead of setting everything up manually sounds pretty handy”. These are first impressions, not experience.

Complaints and cautions

  • Carter S., in HR, titled a SourceForge review “Scam Service” and wrote: “The test messages work until you buy credits, then the customer support does not reply to you” (October 2025). It is a single, unverified review, but it matters because the Terms say purchases are non-refundable.
  • Simon G. also said on SourceForge: “I had to wait more than a week to get a WhatsApp sender because I didn’t know a Meta-verified page was required.”
  • Gary S., a PHP developer, said it was quick to integrate but “I wasn’t able to troubleshoot my errors without help” (SourceForge, September 2025). Janna R. also said “the mobile version is currently lacking”.
  • Saurabh Rai asked on Product Hunt: “how does TopAgent decide the right time to follow up without overwhelming people with messages?” The thread does not show a clear answer to that question. It is worth asking in a demo.
  • On Reddit’s r/de_EDV, a buyer comparing SMS providers said TopMessage and Lox24 were both priced at €0.062 per SMS and asked for experiences (May 2025). The thread had no first-hand TopMessage reports.

The bottom line from users: developers praise the quick API setup, one marketer reports good WhatsApp results, and the complaints are about support after paying and the wait for WhatsApp approval. Five reviews is too few to judge reliability, so test before you commit.

Who should use TopMessage (and who should not)

Good fit: appointment businesses that want reminders and two-way SMS, small e-commerce or marketing teams sending offers to opted-in contacts, event organisers who want invitations and follow-ups drafted for them, and developers who need simple SMS or passcode APIs.

Not a good fit: teams that need named customer references, formal service agreements or refunds; anyone who wants an agent to handle customer chats unattended; and businesses whose main channel is email, which are better served by the tools in our guide to marketing automation tools.

Pros and cons of TopMessage

Pros

  • A free Starter plan with 20 messages and public plan prices
  • SMS, WhatsApp, inbox, automation and APIs in one account
  • TopAgent works from a plain-language brief and, per the FAQ, asks for approval before sending
  • Integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier and Make, plus built-in opt-out management

Cons

  • Prices vary by country, and the $16 headline is the quarterly rate
  • Per-message costs on top, with non-refundable purchases and credits that expire after 12 months
  • Conflicting descriptions of TopAgent’s autonomy, and unsourced AI statistics
  • Anonymous case studies and only five independent reviews, one of them a scam complaint

TopMessage alternatives

Tool Choose it if Channels
Twilio You have developers and want full control through an API SMS, MMS, WhatsApp and more

How to run a fair trial

  • Start on the free Starter plan and send all 20 free messages to your own team in the countries you care about. Check delivery and how long messages take to arrive.
  • Ask TopAgent to build a campaign, and confirm that nothing sends until you approve it. Check that the action log shows what it did.
  • Work out the real cost: plan price for your country, plus per-message prices for SMS and WhatsApp to your destinations.
  • If you need WhatsApp, start the sender approval early, with a Meta-verified business ready.
  • Contact support with a question before you buy credits, and time the reply. Top up only a small amount at first, since purchases are non-refundable.
  • Keep consent records for every contact. Our guide to behavioural segmentation helps you send fewer, better-targeted messages.

How we scored TopMessage

Every DMS review uses the same five criteria, each marked out of 5, and the overall score is the average. This is a desk review: we scored what the vendor publishes and what independent sources confirm, not a paid hands-on test.

Criterion Score Why
Features and depth 4/5 SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, a shared inbox, scheduling, drip and trigger automation, segments, link tracking, opt-out handling, a messaging API and Verify API, Zapier, Make and CRM connectors, plus TopAgent.
Pricing transparency and value 3/5 A real free plan and public plan prices, but the price shown depends on your country, the headline $16 is the quarterly rate, messages are bought on top and all purchases are non-refundable.
Evidence and credibility 2.5/5 Case studies are anonymous, the AI page uses unsourced percentages, and independent reviews are thin: five on SourceForge, including one scam complaint, and none on Trustpilot.
Risk and compliance 3/5 Approval before sending, logging and opt-out tools help, but TopMessage describes TopAgent in two conflicting ways, its privacy policy dates from April 2024 and disputes go to Armenian courts.
Ease of getting started 4/5 Self-serve sign-up, a free plan, plain-language setup through TopAgent and no-code tools. WhatsApp sending needs a Meta-approved sender, which one reviewer said took over a week.
Overall 3.3/5 Worth a careful trial

Our verdict on TopMessage

TopMessage is a capable, reasonably priced way for small teams to run SMS and WhatsApp from one place, and TopAgent’s approve-before-sending design is the right one for an AI that writes to your customers. What holds it back is evidence. The case studies are anonymous, the AI page makes claims that conflict with the FAQ, and only a handful of independent reviews exist, one of them a serious complaint. Add non-refundable purchases, and the sensible approach is to try the free plan first and spend little until it proves itself. Score: 3.3 out of 5, worth a careful trial.
